Meet The Board
At Shalom Nashville, we are blessed to have a team of 20+ people who host meetings in their homes, bring wisdom, teaching, lead worship, bring ideas and contribute with their joy. On top of that, we have a volunteer board to lead in various areas, and do the background work.
Jeff Poloway
Jeff Poloway comes to us as a seasoned Elder, from several messianic congregations. He came to faith, almost 40 years ago, through the study of the scriptures and the prayers of many saints. He is always willing to serve in whatever capacity God leads.
Jeff is known by his friends to be a joyful, encouraging presence of high moral character. A seasoned teacher, he has spoken many times for congregations and has taught various classes.
He is involved with and guides his three grown children and daughter-in-law.
Working as an accountant for a company in Franklin, he has an incredible knack for numbers, and is also a talented soccer player!
Jeff currently serves as Treasurer, Teacher, and Elder on the board of Shalom Nashville and is also a founding member.
Jason Summers
Jason, a father of 3, has been married for 25 years to his wife, Kristi, our outreach and volunteer coordinator. They met early in life and both surrendered to the Lord together, never looking back. He currently works as a Project Manager for a company he has been with for 18 years and loves leading people as a servant.
His ministry experience includes Assistant Pastor, Elder, and Worship leader positions. He enjoys teaching classes and has been involved in ministries to the homeless, children/youth/young adults, and bible studies.
The love of music runs deep in Jason. He began playing guitar at 14 and has been in multiple Christian metal bands, and more recently in Worship bands that include Hebrew worship. Jason is loved for his peace and calm in every situation, building bridges and problem-solving with wisdom and grace.
Along with 25 years studying apologetics, Jason has spent the last decade studying the Hebrew context of scripture and church history. Jason currently serves as Director, Teacher, and Elder on the board of Shalom Nashville and is also a founding member.
Beverly Barthiel
Beverly comes to us as a seasoned believer with a strong, faith-filled prayer life. Those who know her appreciate her easy wisdom and always-available prayer. She holds a degree from New York-York College in Sociology and a certificate in Social work, giving her a heart for the hurting and insight into trauma.
Growing up in a God-fearing home, Ms. Barthiel has had a life of ministry. First being licensed in 1990 through the Southern Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY, then being ordained as a Reverend by Christian Clergy International and held the position of Assistant pastor in 2016. In late 2016, she was ordained as a Crisis Chaplain for the New York State Chaplain Task Force in Uniondale, NY.
In recent years, she has held various prayer and women’s ministry positions, serving faithfully in local Nashville congregations. Beverly currently serves as Vice-President, Teacher and Elder on the board of Shalom Nashville and is also a founding member.
Olivia Simonds
Olivia came to know the Lord later in life, in a powerful way, changing her and bringing her life passions to a new platform and purpose. Those who know her, appreciate her zest for life and love for people.
She began a young career as a professional musician, recording two albums in Hollywood, CA. She and her husband went on to found a computer software company, running it for 27 years. Olivia acted as Vice President of Sales and Marketing in the corporate office in San Luis Obispo, CA.
While currently retired, Olivia is a founding member of Shalom Nashville and serves as its administrator. She brings her expertise, passion, and sheer joy to all that she does.
